Burke Museum - Artist Studio
“Tlingit horn spoon carving has been declared an endangered art form. I’ve spent a lot of time studying horn spoons, especially during my Bill Holm Center Research grant thru the Burke museum. The skill my ancestors had from forming the spoon, to the detail carving in the handles, it was nothing short of incredible sculpture. I want to breathe life into carving these horn spoons, my heart is doing the traditional pieces. Pieces that can exist within our culture hundreds of years ago. Gunalchéesh to the Burke museum for opportunity to carve and connect with museum guests in the artist studio.”
