MERVIN MANUFACTURING TRIP
In late October, I planned a trip up to the Pacific Northwest to pick up more cedar carving wood. My friend purchased 300 lbs. of yellow and red cedar in Alaska, we had it shipped down from Alaska to Seattle on the barge. The drive is 42 hours round trip from Arizona, I’ve done this trip 4x now.
I sent Pete Saari a text saying I’ll be in Washington, and I’d like to come by Mervin Manufacturing for a visit. He wrote back saying Travis Rice will be in town, and they have a Mervin Whale Watching Trip planned the next day and he has a spot for me to join. Lib-Tech, and Travis partnered with the Orca Conservancy to donate a portion of the Lib-Tech Orca Board to help with the recovery of the southern resident Killerwhale population in the PNW. Mervin Manufacturing already has created an amazing sustainable envoirnmentally conscious factory to build their snowboards, it makes sense they want to donate to the wildlife in the Pacific Northwest.
It was an amazing trip overall, great to see everyone at Mervin Manufacturing. I can’t thank them enough for all their support. It’s an honor to be an artist for Lib-Tech.
On the drive back, I stopped in Portland and blessed some snowboards to the crew at “Portugal The Man.” Their support of Indigenous people is un-paralleled, giving us a platform to let our voice be heard. Zachary Carothers also gave me a nice chunk of cedar to carve from his property! Then, once I made it to Los Angeles, I try to always swing by the Volcom HQ for a quick visit. Thank you Ryan Immegart and Kaelin Cassidy for all your support!
